Privacy Policy

Protecting and securing personal data is our top priority. We therefore strictly comply with the provisions of the new German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Below we inform you which data we collect and for what purposes they are processed.

Purpose of processing collected data

GIZ GmbH operates the communication platform of the women’s network Unidas, initiated by the Federal Foreign Office between German and Latin American women. This network is part of the Federal Foreign Office’s Latin America and Caribbean initiative. It aims to strengthen relations, including among civil societies, by encouraging long-term dialogue.

Collection of personal data when visiting our website

When the Unidas website is accessed, the browser automatically transmits data stored in a log file. GIZ processes only data required to correctly display the website and ensure stability and security. Stored data include visited pages, IP address, referrer page, and access date and time. Log file data are deleted after five days.

Cookies

Session cookies are used to make the website more user-friendly and effective. They are deleted automatically when the browser is closed.

etracker analytics service

The website uses the etracker service from etracker GmbH, Hamburg, to analyze usage data anonymously. More information: https://www.etracker.com/datenschutz/.
Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) (e) GDPR in conjunction with Art. 3 BDSG.

Processing personal data upon contact

When contacting GIZ or Unidas via email, your address and any additional personal data are stored solely for processing the inquiry and passed on only to Unidas if necessary.

Data transmission to third parties

Personal data may be shared with:
Unidas – Women’s Network between Germany, Latin America, and the Caribbean

Only for maintaining a register of members.

Data transfer abroad

GIZ does not transfer personal data to third countries. For social media, the providers’ own data protection rules apply.

Processing of data during registration

When registering as a Unidas member, name/username, email, date, and time are collected. The data are stored only as long as necessary. Consent may be withdrawn at any time.

Use of social networks

GIZ offers links to LinkedIn and X (formerly Twitter). Clicking these opens the respective provider’s page, which collects data under its own policies.
